The Great T-Shirt Experiment!

Yesterday, while surfing the web, I ran into a lot of really cool arts and crafts videos on Youtube. So I thought I would give some of them a try!  The results - a renaissance styled t-shirt corset!

I took an old t-shirt that was too big on me and in just over a half an hour I was done. It came out really well. I'm so happy!

If you'd like to make your own renaissance t-shirt, here's a brief tutorial on how to do it!

First, get an old t-shirt and cut off the collar, sleeves, and bottom edge. (See below) Keep the sleeves, you'll need them later. Be careful not to cut too much off the collar, otherwise the shirt may fall off you're shoulders. To get a nice finish stretch everything after you cut it.

Then cut a a section out of the front of you're t-shirt. This is where your laces will go. To be perfectly honest, I just kind of guessed at about how much I wanted to take off. The t-shirt was pretty big on me so I took off a few inches.

Don't worry, almost done! This is what I love about t-shirt corsets. You don't need to put in grommets or anything, all you have to to is cut some holes which a pair of scissors. About an inch a way from the edge should do, but be sure not to cut the hole too big because the shirt will stretch. Sorry, my picture's a little fuzzy.

Take one of sleeves you discarded, and cut around and around the edge until you have a nice, long string. (Be sure to stretch it!) Then lace it up. That's all there is to it!

I hope you liked my little "how to" and I'd love to see what you come up with!
